Leica Geosystems unveiled Leica Cyclone II TOPO, a new software tool intended to make it easy for CAD technicians without special 3D or laser scanning training to process point clouds into topographic map deliverables. The software has a map-like top-down user interface designed to be familiar to CAD topo software users. The new software can automatically generate associated cross-section and isometric views of the same map area. View and orientation capabilities aid CAD users in navigating point-cloud data to accurately locate topographic features, and to automatically extract desired points – highest, lowest, etc. – from clusters of scan data. All Cyclone software modules can export file sets to Cyclone II TOPO. The software is scheduled for release this quarter.
